Here at Storybook Preschool, my goal is to foster a love of reading that will facilitate a
lifetime of learning for your child!
Is there anything better than a child giggling as you read them their favorite story? Stories open young minds in a unique and powerful way that leads to greater comprehension and retention.
I will focus on one alphabet letter per week and always incorporate books that provide an integrated experience with that letter. We will not only learn to identify the letter and its sounds, but we will learn about the letter in context. For example:
The children will learn that the letter V says "vvv" and listen to what a violin sounds like and what it looks like when a volcano erupts. They will pretend to be a viper, and construct a Valentine card. Then they will giggle and cheer with the story of Love, Ruby Valentine! (It's one of my favorites!)
At Storybook Preschool I realize that everything is an opportunity to learn. 3, 4 and 5 year olds have fantastic sponge-like minds that are constantly absorbing new information and connecting it with their experiences. With fabulous stories, music and movement, play and pretend, I will be opening their eyes to the exciting world of learning!
Besides fostering their social and emotional growth through play, sharing, rules and routines, I will help your child learn the following:
- Important Pre-Reading skills
- letters
- sounds
- word recognition
- Spatial Abilities
- shapes
- colors

- Music
- listening skills
